The Way Ahead

For many, the Methodist Church is the building on the corner of Dundas Street and Queens Road that they pass on the way into the market place.

We are now focused developing our facilities, to respond further to the vision of being 'a welcoming, modern, accessible, charitable, and very special multi use community space available for local groups to meet, all in the presence of God.' In consultation with the architects PPIY, we now have three project designs to consider. Each one, provides a differing degree of change and scope, and yet all make great demands on project management, and funds. They all address, not just the shape and use of our premises, but also their long-term viability. All include the creative development of the sanctuary, its openness, access, flexibility, and its welcome as a place of worship. They all include in differing degrees, a redesign of the other rooms and spaces, to enhance their use for church activities, and in encouraging and accommodating further community use. At the most creative end of the scale, without compromising any current, or future church and community use, the project allows for the provision of some affordable accommodation with separate access. This will provide funds to secure our long-term future, and provide for the management of a building that is a ready and available asset to the community.

We intend to hold an Open Day Event for all to view and to consider the options, including our wider stakeholders, such as those who use our building currently, those who lead our Town, and those who provide community services and activities.

From those post pandemic anxieties which were experienced by all communities and organisations, we as a Methodist Church in Richmond have responded with courage, vision and with a confidence borne of our faith in Christ. We can look forward to an exciting future with continued optimism.

However, look out for changes that are in progress now. These exciting new plans we hope are not just good for the Church itself but also for our community here in Richmond.

Information about the changes planned will be posted here when available.
